It’s fast becoming that time of year again, when the diaries are out planning much anticipated summer activities. The Hythe Life team has, for the fourth year, been busy behind the scenes planning the next epic food event of the year. And we have to say that we’re pretty excited about it already. We’re coming back with all of your firm favourites (we know that some of you can’t wait for your ‘best food ever’ fix!) as well as some new and diverse additions to what’s on offer. Get the dates in your diaries, get yourselves down to the cricket ground and be immersed in foodie heaven. We’re all hungry in the office just thinking about it.

The success of the festival is now evident and it continues to grow and develop each year. To ensure this continuity, we now have a great team on board to make the organisation and structure of the festival sustainable and fun, packed with food, drink and activities, to ensure that 2019 will be our best year yet. Of course, all of this isn’t possible without YOU, our great attendees and, if not residents, we would now like to think friends of Hythe. The 3-day event will take place, as always, over the August bank holiday weekend which this year is on the 24th, 25th & 26th (Sat, Sun, Mon) and we hope that we’ll see the old faces and the new supporting our fab event for our fourth year and counting.

Just another reminder to everyone, We Love Hythe Life food fest is run and organised by Hythe Life Magazine, your local, glossy mag which you see landing on the doormat every quarter. As a community interest company, this means that us running the festival has the same connotations; we’re not for profit. Simple. Everything we do is run purely by volunteers and the profits that are made from the festival are funnelled straight back into the community, either to projects we have identified ourselves, or to organisations who have approached us for support.

Our aim is to make Hythe a ‘go-to’ town. We’d like to bring as many people as we can through our streets for the bank holiday, guaranteeing that the majority of those fall in love with our quaint town and plan repeat visits to aid the local economy. It’s always great to be ‘on the map’. No-one visits an unknown town and as much as we’d like to keep our beautiful town to ourselves, if we want to keep it nurtured and with a thriving economy, we need visitors.

So, we’re all set. The planning is underway and we are having our usual amounts of fun planning the 2019 We Love Hythe Life food festival, the foodie event of the year. If anyone would like to help out in any capacity, either on the run up to the event, or during event days, feel free to get in touch with us via the tab below. We’re always happy to meet and work with new people. It’s what makes us who we are, all about the community. So we hope to see you there, bring your picnic blankets, bring your family, bring your friends and lets make this the end of summer event to remember.

The past three years have been incredible and the success has been down to the support of the people of Hythe and its surrounding areas. This has been complimented by the fact that the people of Shepway are gastronomic foodies, so where better to satisfy those taste buds than joining us for an explosion of flavours and aromas, from savoury to sweet!

The reputation of the Hythe food festival has grown and people now come from far and wide to visit, wanting to be part of this reputable event, which has helped to put Hythe clearly on the map. From a travel and tourism aspect this has a great knock-on effect for the other great things Hythe has to offer; the beach, Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, great pubs and of course our High Street, all becoming ‘places to return to’ for many festival visitors. The festival has also created numerous fund raising opportunities so that the local community can grow together and supports local initiatives and this year we aim to surpass our previous donations.

Make sure you look out for our festival brochure on event days, featuring a full events’ line-up, which will be free to all festival-goers. We hope that this ensures you don’t miss out on your favourite acts, demos and events! We’ll also be publishing the schedule and exhibitor list on our website and throughout social media – so don’t forget to follow us…
